Antenetal care

These departments assist the clinical teams in diagnosis and treatment: - Laboratory: Conducts various tests including hematology, serology, clinical chemistry, parasitology, and bacteriology to support diagnosis and monitoring . ā - Radiology (X-ray): Provides imaging services to help diagnose injuries, diseases, and other conditions . ā - Pharmacy: Ensures safe and timely access to medications, dispenses prescriptions and provides guidance on proper drug usage
NICU (Nursery)
St. Francis Hospital Mutolere has a nursery unit that provides care for newborns, that is explicitly designated as a full-fledged Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Services Provided - Routine Newborn Care: Includes initial assessment, weighing, measurement, vitamin K administration, eye care, and immunizations such as BCG and polio vaccines. ā - Care for Mild Conditions: Manages common issues like jaundice, low birth weight, and minor infections. ā - Stabilization and Referral: For babies with more serious conditions requiring advanced care, the unit stabilizes them and coordinates transfer to higher-level facilities with NICUs. Facilities and Equipment - Equipped with incubators to maintain body temperature for premature or low-weight babies. ā - Has monitoring equipment to track vital signs like heart rate, breathing, and oxygen levels. ā - Provides specialized feeding support, including intravenous fluids and nasogastric tube feeding when needed. Staff - Staffed by trained nurses and midwives with experience in newborn care. ā - Works closely with pediatricians and other medical staff to ensure comprehensive care

- Oversees the overall management and operations of the hospital, including finance, human resources, logistics, records management, and infrastructure maintenance . - Ensures compliance with policies, coordinates with stakeholders, and plans for service improvements .
MATERNITY DEPARTMENT
Maternity & Gynecology Ward: Comprehensive care for women ā antenatal check-ups, scans, HIV screening, normal and cesarean deliveries, postnatal care, family planning, and treatment of gynecological conditions. Also runs community outreach programs for safe motherhood
Community Health Department

Its main goal is to quickly stabilize the patient, prevent the condition from worsening, and save lives before full treatment can be provided.
The Outpatient Department (OPD)
The Outpatient Department (OPD) at St. Francis Hospital Mutolere is the main entry point for patients seeking medical care who do not require overnight admission. It serves as a hub for initial diagnosis, treatment, follow-up care, and access to specialized services. Here are the key details: Core Services - General Consultation: Assessment and treatment of common illnesses, injuries, and chronic conditions (e.g., hypertension, diabetes, respiratory infections) by general practitioners and medical officers. ā - Specialized Clinics: ā - Ophthalmology Clinic: Diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases such as cataracts, trachoma, and glaucoma, including minor procedures . ā - HIV/AIDS Clinic: Counseling, testing, antiretroviral treatment, and prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) services . ā - Immunization Services: Routine vaccination for children against diseases like tuberculosis, polio, measles, and tetanus; also offers vaccines for pregnant women and people with injuries.
